We arrived at Shimla around 6.30 AM in the morning(388 km 8/9 hours By Volvo Semi-sleeper).
About Shimla
The British Empire may have ceased to exist, but its echo lingers on in Shimla (2205m). As the Summer Capital of the British in India, Shimla was the country's focus for the better part of every year and now, is the state capital of Himachal Pradesh. Today, it has well developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous attractions making it one of India's most popular hill destinations. Situated in the lower ranges of the Himalayan Mountains, it is surrounded by pine deodar, oak and rhododendron forests. Towards the north lie the snow-covered high-ranges, while the valleys breathe whispering streams and swaying fields. Within the town are host of splendid colonial edifices, quaint cottages and charming walks. Shimla offers a variety of shopping, sport and entertainment activities.
Day 02:- Shimla Local Sight Seeing (By cab)
Next day morning around 6:00 AM we arrivad at Shimla,Aww!! what's the climate. It can't be explained in words but can be felt. You know our hands got frozen. We are more excited to explore the places. Then we checked-in to hotel at 8:30 AM after refreshment and breakfast, we again started our journey to Shimla city, “The Mall road & The Ridge”. This is large open space in the heart of town presents excellent views of the mountain ranges. Shimla's landmarks - the neo- gothic structure of Christ Church and the neo-Tudor library building - are worth seeing. We ate some street food (must have), after snacks and tea then proceeded towards Jakhoo Temple at 2455m elevation. This place is really worth to visit and the summit is crowned with a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman(be aware of monkeys) and then we returned to hotel for overnight stay. Had dinner at hotel.
Day 03:-
We went to Kufri the next morning. This is the town's highest peak and a famous point of Shimla's famous views. After breakfast at hotel we started our journey.
About Kufri
The region around Shimla including Kufri was once a part of the Kingdom of Nepal. This region remained obscure from the rest of the world until the British discovered it in 1819. The British made Shimla their summer capital in 1864 and it remained so until 1939. As Shimla gained importance, Kufri also began to be recognized as an important place to visit. Kufri is a small hill station. It is famous for its beautiful and cool refreshing atmosphere that pervades it. In summers, travellers can enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding verdant valleys and snow-capped peaks. There are a number of picnic spots, hiking and trekking trails in and around Kufri. Travellers can explore Kufri and its surrounding areas also on horseback. They can hike through thick forest around Kufri to the Mahasu Peak.
It is a day trip with full of adventurous activity, Snow games etc., The cab stopped at entrance of hill and from there we need to hire the horse to reach the hill top. We bought all the necessary accessories(snow dresses for rent is available local at the entrance. approx. 700 INR per person) required for roaming in the snow land. Ahh! It was an overwhelming experience in one's lifetime with horse and these horses were so much trained because the way is full of ice slopes and obstacles but horse managed very well(no need to panic). To our surprise we experienced snowy rain. Really its a god's shower and never experienced this before in lifetime. We visited Zoo, Adventure Resort, Snow-caped peaks and some photoshoots.Later in the evening, we returned to Shimla. Had Overnight stay at the hotel.
